The wombat says: We’ve been waiting for what seems like an eternity for the sequel to the Play’N Go’s 2017 mega hit Reactoonz. But the wait is over! And the Reactoonz 2 slot promises to be every bit as good, if not better, than the original. Bonza.
So what’s new? Well, the game brings in some brand new features including both Electric and Energoon Wilds (more on these below). And it’s also good to see Play’N Go have upped the max win potential to 5,083x your stake compared with 4,530x in the original Reactoonz. Now we are in the same realm as Golden Genie and the Walking Wilds and a few other blockbuster slots I could mention.
So will this slot live up to all the hype? Let’s take a closer look…
Look and Feel
When it comes the graphics, you’ll find they look very similar to the original Reactoonz.
The grid is set on a dark blue background that swirls with purple in some kind of vortex. Plus, those weird little alien/monsters are back and couldn’t be more brightly coloured if they tried. Meanwhile, the soundtrack to your spins is an electro ditty that’s uptempo and full of bleeps. Is this the sound of wins tumbling in? Or is it just the Reactoonz having a chat? Who ruddy knows?
The Reactoonz 2 slot is played on a 7×7 grid. Wins are made by getting 5x or more matching symbols in clusters. And the bigger the cluster, the bigger the payout. Bets start at 0.20 and go up to 100.00 per intergalactic spin – which gives all of us players a nice wide betting range to work with.
When it comes to the pay table, you’ll see that not much has changed…
Yup, your reel icons are made up of the same friendly blobs you got to know in the original slot. They are divided into two categories: one-eyed monsters, and two-eyed monsters. The latter being the more lucrative.
Your one-eyed monsters come in shades pf yellow, red, green and purple, while the two-eyed monsters, are orange, blue, green and pink. As before the boss-eyed pink guys are the highest paying icons in the game. Land 10x of these little fellas and you’ll net x20 your bet.
After you make a win, all the winning symbols will be exploded from the reel grid and new ones drop in from above (giving you another chance to land a winning combo). These cascade drops will continue until no more wins can be created.
Free Spins and Bonus Features
As expected, the game play and extras are pretty similar to the original Reactoonz. The aim is to charge up the 2 meters on the right side of the grid in the hope of releasing the giant 3×3 three-eyed wild called Gargantoon.
You can do this by making consecutive wins. There are also some new fancy wilds that help explode existing symbols more quickly…
Fluctometer and Electric Wilds
You’ll find the Fluctometer at the top right of the reels. Here an alien/monster is chosen to be a special symbol. This icon is now the fluctuating symbol for that cascade drop, and if that alien appears in a winning cluster, the Fluctometer will begin to fill up. Charge the Fluctometer and up to 3x Electric Wilds will be added to the grid.
These cool Electric Wilds will perform the usual Wild role and substitute for other icons to help you create more wins. But, if the Electric Wild is part of a win, it will destroy all the symbols of the same kind from the entire grid, too. And, the Quantumeter will also be charged up.Nice work!
Wild Pair Explosion
If 2x or more Electric Wilds land next to each other, then they will destroy every single other symbol on the reel grid – except for any other wilds. This will create a new cascade of the whole grid. Which equals wins aplenty!
If there are no winning combinations on the new cascade, but those 2x Wilds are still in play on the reel grid, then they will explode all the symbols on the grid once more. This is process will keep on going until the pair of Wilds have disappeared.
If there are no adjacent Electric Wilds, 2 symbols will be chosen randomly and a line will join them together. Any icon that touches this line will be destroyed and new cascade drops made. Although you won’t scoop any wins from this feature, it will give you a big helping hand when it comes to filling up the Quantumeter…
Quantumeter and Energoonz
So, here’s the next step to reaching Reactoonz nirvana… It’s a bit confusing so listen carefully:
Ride the Reactoonz Elevator
During the process of the Electric Wilds blowing up all the non-wild symbols, the Quantumeter begins to charge up and gather some momentum. There are 4 levels and the more Electric Wild wins you make, the fuller the meter gets and the better the rewards you will receive on the reels. Take a look at these:
Level 1 – 50 Charges
Reach this and four 1×1 sized Energoon Wilds will added to the grid.
Level 2 -80 Charges
Collect enough Wilds to fill up the second level and you will be given a 2×2 Energoon Wild
Level 3 – 105 Charges
Get this far (very well done Wombat fans) and a 3×3 Gargantoon Wild will be added to the reels.
Level 4 -130+ Charges
If you get this far you deserve a medal and the x2 multiplier that will be added on to every Gargantoon Wild win you make!
The Reactoonz 2 slot had some big shoes to fill Wombat fans. But with those new features and the increased potential max win, we think they might have just done it.
Not unlike the first game, things really get going in once you manage to land consecutive winning cascades – and the screen starts to explode with wild wins. The new bonuses are different enough from the first game to be very exciting, but still capture the original Reactoonz vibe.
All in all it’s an awesome sequel! And the best thing? It gives you the chance to be reunited on the reels with your favourite boggly eyed aliens…
