If you’ve never heard of it, it comes with a whole host of colourful wild and wacky icons, and it has some innovative bonus features. The clue is in the name, even the Deadmau5 slot doesn’t have this much energy pumping through its reels!

Intro

You can make wins when you’re playing Energoonz slot by getting three or more symbols in a row, horizontally or vertically – and this is called a Cluster Pays mechanism. All rows and columns are active (there are no fixed pay lines here) and reel icons can be part of multiple winning combinations.

The game also has cascading reels. This is where symbols drop down onto the grid to form winning combinations.

These symbol combos are then removed and stacked up in a meter to the right of the reels, while stacked symbols above them fall to take their place. The whole setup is pretty far removed from a traditional slot. Not as far as Monopoly Big Spin, but far enough!

This process can lead to more cluster wins being created, which gives you the chance to clear the entire grid in one paid spin. If you manage to eliminate all of the Energoonz icons at once, you will scoop 1000x your total bet. Not bad.

As for the theme? Well, this slot is set around a bunch of friendly electrically-charged aliens who will try their best to get you wins.

Energoonz Game Play

Energoonz gameplay takes place on a 5 x 5 grid (the Dreamzone slot from ELK Studios is on a similar mechanic, it’s all the rage).

On the right-hand side of the screen, there’s a machine that will zap all the icons in a winning combo and on the left you can see a list of the combos you’ve made in the recent win.

The background is dark blue and the icons are Pixar-like in their awesome animated detail. The extra-terrestrial soundtrack is very catchy too.

The reel icons are made up of three friendly goggle-eyed Energoonz aliens, plus five other symbols that all represent electricity or energy.

The blue atom ball is the Wild icon and the highest-paying symbol in the game. If you land five of them in a row, you will scoop a payout of 500x your bet. This handy icon will also substitute for all other symbols on the reels.

There is also a win multiplier that is activated after two consecutive wins – and it goes all the way up to 10x.

Energoonz Bonus Features

On each spin, you will see the letters ‘BONUS’ appear vertically behind a random number of reels. You will activate the Free Spins round if you can clear the whole row above that word. We love this unique way to trigger the feature.

Next, you’ll be given a brand new set of reels to play on plus ten free spins.  The aim here is to land at least five of one kind of icon to make your wins. And this time there are no cascading reels to help you out…

You have ten weird and wonderful alien creature symbols to play with that range in colour from purple to bright green. The three-eyed icon with horns is the most lucrative in this Bonus game. It will pay out 175x your bet if you land ten on the grid.

If you land five or more of the glass lanterns during play you’ll re-trigger the Free Spins. You can do this a maximum of twenty times.

Conclusion

This Wombat reckons you’d have to be crazy not to like Energoonz slot. For starters it feels like you’re constantly playing a bonus round – there is so much going on! Then there’s the rewarding base game multiplier and those great animated graphics.

As one of Play’n GO’s earlier games, it still stands the test of time – and this slot is a release that holds its own among newer flashier pretenders.
