The Da Vinci Device
G’day. Now as we all know, I’m a marsupial of many talents: I can play the didge (you know- the didgeriddo), make a mean witchetty grub sanger (sarnie that is) and spin the reels with the best of ‘em.
But, when I had a crack at 1 x2 Gaming’s The Da Vinci Device slot I decided my skills needed a serious upgrade. Why? Because the ridiculously gifted Leonardo Da Vinci is the ONLY star of this one-man slot show. Yes, we are talking Da Vinci here, and not the man from the Da Winci slot which is another game. Just in case you were getting confused.
Not satisfied with single-handedly decorating the Sistine Chapel, Da Vinci also invented some of the world’s most remarkable engineering firsts (like the helicopter). And did we mention he painted the Mona Lisa too? Bloody overachiever. Mind you, I will skip the test flight in his chopper.
So, let’s see if this Renaissance genius can up the ante in Slotworld too…
This game looks the business – with its transparent reels set against a background of what seems to be one of Da Vinci’s sketchbooks.
In fact, if you look closely, you’ll see that Leonardo’s hand-drawn plans are laid out on aged parchment with cogs moving in the left and right hand corners. All very ye olde worlde indeed.
Plus, the soundtrack is a nice harpsichord-type ditty that transports you to Venice in the 1500s to add a bit of atmosphere. Where did I put my wig and face powder?
The Da Vinci Device slot has 3 rows, 5 reels and 243 way to win (the same kind of mechanic as Golden Yak , although that game has 4 rows which bumps up the Ways to Win to 1024). If you are looking for a standard pay-lines game then I would suggest the Rising Royals slot from Just for the Win. Da Vinci don´t do pay-lines!
And there’s no escaping the fact that all the reel icons are made up of this great genius’ inventions.
The globe is the symbol with the highest value. Land 5x of these and you’ll get ya paws on 16 x your bet. Next, comes the flying machine, the helicopter prototype, a locket, a green hexagon shape, the iconic Mona Lisa and a self-portrait of the title’s big guy (who looks A LOT like that bloke Jon Snow from Game of Thrones).
The standard 10, J, Q, K & A playing cards makes up the game’s lower value icons.
‘But what about the Wild?’, I hear you cry.
The cheeky Wild symbol in The Da Vinci Device slot is the drawing of the Vitruvian Man. You know, the one that’s the outline of a naked fella in a circle. Well anyway, this icon substitutes for all other symbols on the reels, except the Scatter.
And speaking of which, the Scatter is made up of 5 pieces of a Da Vinci invention, called a cryptex (you have to expect something different when you’re dealing with a genius…)
Land 3x or more of these mechanical thingumajigs and you’ll launch the bonus game.
Wild Multipliers
The Da Vinci Wild can also appear with a multiplier from x2 to x4. Get lucky and land it during the free spins feature to boost your winning pot!
Happy Face!
Unfortunately, you can only land one of these multipliers per win.
Sad Face…
Free Spins
You’ll need to land 3x or more Scatters to launch the free spins feature, Wombat fans. And it’s 8, 12, or 16 free games for you depending on how many Scatters you scooped to begin with.
The Da Vinci Device slot makes a nice change from your standard slot fare. Plus, it’s lovely to look at.
The extra features are a bit on the sparse side if we’re honest, but the x4 multiplier is a firecracker in the Free Spins and really will do the trick.
Put it this way – you don’t need to be Da Vinci to know you’re onto a winner. Give it a spin!
