What’s Loki Up to?

The Norse gods are back in the Tales of Asgard: Loki’s Fortune slot from Play’n GO. This is a visual treat (they generally are these Play’n GO games).

We are off to Asgard where our man Loki is sitting on his throne in a palace. Not his porcelain throne. His Royal Asgardian throne.

This game is one of Play’n GO’s Norse Mythology series along with the Ring of Odin (an unfortunate name that one but it’s a good slot) and the Faces of Freya. This Loki game a bit mischievous like the star of the slot as mystery symbols reveal multiple ways to win.

Look and Feel

Very slick as always. A 5×5 game grid fires up (just like the Alice Cooper slot by the way, another Play ‘n Go game)  with Loki watching on from the side. The lower paying symbols are rune stones and the mid paying icons are the animal emblems (a horse, a raven, a serpent, and a wolf).

Then there’s a red Odin symbol which is the top payer (with the eye patch) and a blue Thor symbol. Both of these look pretty similar to me, but I guess they are family.

Loki is the wild symbol that can fill in for everything except the scatter which is Loki’s emerald. There is also a Mystery symbol.

Loki’s Fortune Game Play

The Loki action takes place on a 5 reel, 5 row grid with 3,125 ways to win, similar to the Moon Princess Christmas slot by the same developers. Winning combos drop in when three or more matching symbols land in adjacent reels. The winning combo must begin in reel 1 and travel to the right.

Split symbols can boost the ways to win to 100,000 ways- we’ll cover that in more detail below. That even puts the Links of Ra slot into the shade which is just as well as its pretty hot in Egypt.

If you fill the whole grid with Mystery Symbols, then you won’t need a wild, they’ll morph into a paying symbol automatically.

Mischief Modifiers
Loki looks like he just sits on his throne mouthing off every now and then. But he also can randomly trigger one of 3 modifiers:

– Adding Scatters – 2 scatter symbols are thrown onto the reels.
– Adding Wilds – Between 1 and 3 wilds are thrown onto the reels.
– Splitting Symbols – All Mystery Symbols are split

Free Spins
If you can land three or more scatters (the emeralds), you will set off the free spins. You’ll get 8, 12, or 20 free spins for three, four, or five scatter symbols.

These free games come with even more Mystery Symbols and wilds. However, you cannot retrigger the spins bonus.

Conclusion

The Norse Gods theme isn’t one in which we are lacking games (Thunderstruck, Viking Wilds, you name it), but Play’n GO have managed to put a new spin on it with Tales of Asgard: Loki’s Fortune slot with Loki as the lead and the innovative Mystery Symbols.
