Another Games Global (formerly Microgaming) collaboration with All41 Studios, the Kings of Crystals slot is set in a fantasy medieval kingdom.

There are three kings in this game and they look nothing like the traditional ones you see at Christmas! One has flowing blonde hair, one has no hair and the other looks like he has just stepped out of the deep freeze. The great thing about this game is that there are 3 scatters. Let’s take a look…

Kings of Crystals Slot Graphics

Visually, this slot looks great and fits well with the fantasy setting.

Behind the grid of play, a foggy scene shows a distant castle with its towers and turrets standing strong above the tops of trees.

Towards the bottom of the screen, a dense, foggy forest spreads to the bottom castle walls. The top of the screen shows the towers of the castle and its tallest buildings reaching the clouds of the golden sky above.

The play table is set inside a mediaeval grid with Celtic designs, stone carved bricks and wooden beams positioned on either side.

To the left of the grid, you will see the Mini, Minor, Major and Mega Jackpots and their respective payouts based on the bet stake. more on that later.

Towards the bottom-left are  three crystals that bring bonus features into play; when one is live, the circle surrounding it makes this clear.

And on the right-hand side of the grid, you’ll find the usual game buttons.

All in all, a great looking game from All41 Studios with a dramatic score accompanying play. It’s a step up from some of Microgaming’s other collaborations like Bust the Mansion which doesn’t hit the same design heights.

Kings of Crystals Slot Game Play

Playing the main game is simple enough; choose your stake, push the spin button and off you go.

There are 40 paylines in this 5 reel,  4 row slot game. It’s a more traditional set up than something like Play’n GO’s Deff Leppard Hysteria slot, although those 4 rows stand it out from the crowd.

With each spin, any crystals (green, red or blue) that land will automatically be added to the count to the left of the grid. This should eventually grant you access to bonus features.

The deck of cards 9, 10, J, Q, K, A  are the low payers, designed in metallic silver colours designed to look like a sharpened sword. The lower value symbols pay out a maximum of 0.75x the stake for five across a pay line.

For bigger rewards, you will need to land combinations of the blue goblet or red gauntlet, the blue-haired or bald king. The high payer in the main game is the long blonde haired king that pays out a maximum of 5x the stake.

Other symbols you will see include three crown symbol Scatters that bring crystals into play on the bonus count towards the bottom-left. There is also a purple Wild symbol.

Kings of Crystals Bonus Features

In addition to the Wild symbol that can be used to substitute for any other main game symbols and complete winning combinations, there are several  other bonus features.

These are triggered when the crystal meter towards the bottom-left of the grid fills up. These features are all Free Spins games with additional bonus features that depend on the colour of the Scatters that have triggered it. These features include:

Red Scatter Nudging Wilds Spins

This feature is triggered when the red crystal Scatter meter is filled; it nets you 5 Free Spins, during which nudging Wilds can fill entire reels. When a Wild symbol lands, the reel on which it has landed nudges to fill each of the positions with Wild symbols. Very nice!

To make these reel Wilds even more exciting, two additional positions are added to each reel, changing the total number of paylines to 100 in this feature.

This feature can award more Free Spins if additional red Scatter symbols drop during play.

Green Scatter Jackpot Spins

You will need to fill the green Scatter crystal meter on the screen to trigger this bonus feature, rewarding you with a juicy 10 Free Spins.

You can win the jackpot bonuses seen on the top left here; this is done by dropping letter symbols to spell out one of the Mini, Minor, Major or Mega jackpot titles. Also, during this feature, golden coin symbols can drop to pay out a return of between 1x and 10x the stake instantly.

Blue Scatter Multiplier Spins

To trigger this feature, you will need to fill the blue crystal Scatter meter, which gives you 5 Free Spins. During these Free Spins, a multiplier of 2x, 3x, 5x or 10x will remain active on any wins scored, making for soem nice runs if you are lucky.

More blue Scatters can drop during this feature giving you additional Free Spins and more winning potential.

A Free Spins bonus can be activated here by combining the features mentioned. This will happen randomly during the main game or as a Free Spins bonus is already active.

Wwll, as you can see my fellow wombats, with bonus features like that available, the Kings of Crystals slot can launch into some tasty runs if your luck is in. The setting and other visual elements look great, and the gameplay is top notch both in the main game and bonus features.
