Prepare to be spooked Wombat fans, and if this is a them you are keen on you can read more on our other Halloween slot blog that showcases even more spooky games!

1 First celebrated in the US by Irish immigrants, Halloween arrived in North America in the 1800s and evolved from a Celtic tradition. The superstitious bunch would put food and treats out for the spirits they believed roamed the streets, to keep them happy and stop them getting into trouble. Then is spread all over the world to the Halloween we know today!

2 Halloween also originates from ‘All Hallow’s Eve’ the Christian celebration that falls on October 31st to celebrate the end of the harvest.

3 Another name for trick or treating is guising. The activity hails from the medieval custom of ‘souling’, when poor people would knock on the doors in their villages on All Hallow’s Eve asking for food in exchange for prayers for the dead.

4 Did you know that the first Halloween lanterns were not made from pumpkins? They were actually made from turnips. Doesn’t have the same ring though, does it?

5. Legend states that if you put your clothes on inside out and walk backwards on Halloween, you’ll see a witch at midnight. Good luck trying that without looking like an idiot.

6. The largest pumpkin ever grown was cultivated by an American called Norm Crave. His pumpkin weighed in at a mighty 836 pounds and he broke the world record in 1993.

7 In the US, Halloween is second only to Christmas in the amount of money spent each year. Mainly on tacky costumes and tooth-rotting sweets…

Anyway, back to the games!
