Another zany-themed game, the reels in Gold Factory are set in a Steampunk boiler, where a dapper-looking Victorian gent and his be-goggled assistant, travel across the reels in steam trains, festooned zeppelins and a shiny gold submarine (among other things) – all to help you scoop their coins!
Graphics wise, this cartoon-style slot is full of goggles, cogwheels and Victorian industrial touches, which all add to the theme. It’s in the design era of games like the Burning Desire slot machine and other cartoon classics.
Gold Factory is a 5-reel slot with 3 rows and 50 paylines. The smartly-dressed owner is your highest value symbol on the reels, paying out 50,000 coins for 5x or more, then there’s his bow-tie sporting sidekick and the helter-skelter factory itself. The submarine and a balloon ship will also give you some decent payouts Wombat Fans, whilst the mine cart, the gold bullion bars and the stacks of coins make up your lower paying symbols.
The logo icon is the Wild symbol in Gold Factory slot and will substitute for any other symbol on the reels except for the scatter symbols. FYI: The Wild here will pay out on winning combinations from left to right only.
The scatter symbol here in the Golden Coin. 2x Scatters will payout 2,000 coins, while 3x or more gives you at least 3000, but most importantly, will trigger the Boiler Room Bonus round.
Here you’ll be asked to to pick 4 out of a possible 12 pump machines – that each has a hidden prize behind it, ranging from 1000 coins to 5000 coins. Plus, there are two additional bonus levels that can be triggered during the Boiler Room Bonus too; the Free Spins Bonus and the Reactor Bonus. Click on the right pump and you’ll be taken to the next round…
During the Free Spins Bonus, you’ll randomly get given between a decent 10 and a staggering 35 free goes (we were awarded 23 last time), with all wins during in this round getting a x2 multiplier added to them. Unfortunately the Free Spins cannot be re-triggered, which make this wombat a bit sad.
This ‘bonus within a bonus’ is a cracker and presents lucky players with 12 mechanical-looking items to choose from. Pick the items one by one to reveal hidden cash prizes, until you unearth the Malfunction logo and you are returned to the base game. There are 2 of these nasty surprises usually, so pick very carefully!
The look and feel in Gold Factory slot is simple which we like, while the 3 bonus rounds are actually fun to play (which makes a nice change) and are pretty lucrative if you pick them the right way.
We did have to turn the volume down though, as the soundtrack can be a right ear worm, and the commentary from the factory owner was annoying after a while, too. Finally, we think the addition of more multipliers would have turned this game from a good game into a great slot.
Wombat score: 4/5
Overall we liked this game, so give it a spin. Cheerio!
