As a red-blooded wombat, it takes a bit to give me the heebie jeebies, but even so, I fired up the Vlad’s Castle slot from Eyecon with one leg down the burrow, and I have to say this game is pretty spooky. I mean, I had just got off the Spinsane slot with all its wolves but that was tame in comparison.
But marsupials are tough cookies and a game that plunged me into a vampire’s lair was just the type of slot challenge I love. Bring it on Vlad!
This spine tinging slot isn’t without its charms which include a nice little free spins game and a multiplier-heavy portrait game. Just don’t forget the garlic!
Look and Feel
Prep yourself for a bit of a fright-fest when you enter this blood-sucker’s castle and put your spinning hat on. The game offers players a world of dark shadows and animated glimpses of the dark evil that stirs within. Mwahahaha! This game makes the Great Book of Magic slot machine look like a Sunday outing in the Austrian Alps in June.
The reels are set in some kind of metal frame contraption plastered in some blood-red wallpaper. Vlad clearly needs to do an interior design course and lighten things up a bit. And Vlad’s teeth! You need to go and see a dentist mate, they’re all over the place. I wouldn’t like too bump into him in dark alley, put it that way.
While you spin, listen out for the dramatic background sounds which ratchet up the gaming tension. There’s a mad organist keeping himself busy, that’s for sure.
When you make a win, you’ll get the full Dracula drama mode unleashed! It reminds me of those old Hammer House horror movies.
This 25 pay-line vamp game takes place over 3 rows and five reels. That’s 5 more than that other classic: the Centurion slot from Inspired Gaming, and we’d put it down as about average on the lines front.
The reels are full of some creepy items that clearly belong in Vlad’s pad. The highest value icon is a damsel in distress: this poor sheila’s stuck in Vlad’s weird digs, no wonder she’s not smiling! If you’re under the vamp’s spell you will land five of these ladies on an active pay-line earning a super human 5,000 coins. Cash-o-la!
Watch out for the vampire bat, a coffin (Vlad’s fave spot when the sun comes up), and a white rose. I am not sure what the significance of that is, maybe he’s from Yorkshire or he’s planning to get married.
The lower value icons are the Ace through 9 of the card deck in gothic dark letters, Vlad’s favourite font.
The game’s Wild is combined with the Scatter icon too and is the pale and distinctly unearthly looking vamp Vlad. This icon subs for all other symbols on the reels, with the exception of a second Scatter; the horrid lair itself. The blood-thirsty count has some good news for all of you wombat fans.
If you make a line win which includes Vlad , he’ll double the value of your win. Cheers mate! Have a drop of the red stuff on me.
Just 3, 4 or 5 Scatters will unleash 15,20 or a mega 25 free spins. And, even better, wins made in this feature are subject to a bloody great triple multiplier. Vlad, you legend you!
This is a game chock-a-block with dark secrets and landing three of the special Castle Scatters will unlock the blood-curdling Portrait feature.
Just in case you haven’t been freaked out enough yet, you will get a chance to enter a gallery of weird portraits: pick between them and reveal the terrifying count as he morphs, bringing breath-taking multipliers of up to 100 x your wager.
Now, that’s better than taking a stake through your ticker!
I love a bit of atmosphere on a slot and Vlad’s Castle slot is typical of Eyecon’s visual flair. This game isn’t one for the faint hearted- try and spin to win if you dare. The free spins are hefty and can be re-triggered with a nice multiplier and the Portrait mode is just scary enough to make you work for those x100 multipliers. A spine-tingler of a slot.
Not bad, Vlad. This game’s got bite!
