The Wolf’s Bane
The Wombat says: Gobble up 18th century villagers in this scare-fest slot from NetEnt. These Swedish maestros make a good looking game (try the Conan slot if you don’t believe me) and this wolfie spinner is no exception.
The spooky action takes place at night and revolves around a bloodthirsty Werewolf stalking the terrified inhabitants of a sleepy 18th-century village.
Frankly this Wombat finds the whole thing quite terrifying, and we had to spin with one eye closed. But if you’re made of strong stuff AND you like the taste of human flesh (or just some decent chunky wins) get your chops around The Wolf Bane’s slot. It’s as good looking as the Tahiti Gold slot but it’s much scarier. Just saying.
The reels spin beneath a bright full moon, in an empty village on a foggy, winter night.
To the left the inhospitable moorlands are visible in the distance (Errr, An American Werewolf in London, anyone?) and your gameplay is accompanied by a sinister soundtrack with plenty of eerie percussion and anguished wolf howls. Blimey, and I have just got off the Book of Halloween slot, what is it with the scary slots today?
The best bit? When you make a Big Win and 4 scary-ass werewolves howl like banshees at the front of the screen.
The Wolf’s Bane slot has a 5 reels, 3 rows and 10 pay-lines.
Your high-paying symbols are made up of the villagers – one brandishing a pistol (good luck with that mate if the bullets aren’t silver), a lady with a candle, a bloke with a shovel, and another female villager grasping what looks like a bottle of serum. Perhaps it’s the werewolf antidote or cure? Who knows?
Your low-paying symbols are represented by the usual playing cards J, Q, K & A.
The Wild in this game is the poor fella becoming a werewolf (which also pays 50x your bet for x5, so every cloud etc.).
The scatter icon is the big orange, full moon and will set off your free spins. There’s also another bonus symbol, a man with a crossbow, that triggers the Pick ‘n’ Click feature in the base game (he’ll appear on reels 1, 3 and 5 only).
The Wolf’s Bane slot comes with a wolf pack of features:
Land 3x or more of the orange moons and your Free Spins terror begins.
The game launches a selector, click stop you’ll randomly pick one of the four different Wild features:
Regular Wilds – A normal wild will land on the reels more frequently during the bonus.
Expanding Wilds – These cheeky Wilds will expand upwards to cover the entire reel.
X2 Multiplier Wilds – This one’s our fave: it multiplies each win it contributes to by x2.
Spreading Wilds – Spreading Wilds will turn one adjacent or diagonal symbol into a Wild icon, too.
Wombat Fans; in this pick ‘em feature, the hunter becomes the hunted.
Hit 3x Bonus symbols on the reels in the base game and you’ll set it off, and you’ll see the poor Werewolf Hunter transform into a werecreature…
Click on one of the 3 Bonus symbols to reveal a win and you’ll be treated to a random prize of between 5x and 50x your bet.
The Wolf’s Bane slot is great fun to play and is easy on the eyes.
We particularly enjoyed the Free Spins with its 4x Wilds that can be triggered easily. Bump up the bet level if you want to make Big Wins but for those who like a mid-range slot, this will do the trick (or treat).
This game isn’t available to UK players. Sorry about that chaps!
