The Wombat says: Ahhhhh, Teddy Bears Picnic slot. It takes this Wombat right back to some childhood memories. ‘When you go down to the woods today, you’re in for a big surprise (no not the Big Foot slot machine– that’s another story)’…
That’s right kids, except where I grew up the surprise was a bloody great big dingo ready to get his chops around some mini wombats! Shudder. Thankfully this friendly little slot from NextGen is all about cuddly bears and pots of honey, without a single sinister outback animal in sight. What a relief. Anyway back to the game…
Look and Feel
Well, where shall we start? Say ‘hi’ to a soft and cuddly picnic-themed background, complete with super cute bears and green fluffy trees all wrapped up in perfect pinks, baby blues and purples. OK, it’s a long way from the like of our Shangri-La slot game and it’s not for everyone, in face if we didn’t know gambling was an adult-only pastime we’d think this game was designed for little peeps! But overall, the 3D cartoon graphics are nice – if you like that sort of thing. The soundtrack is also cute and quite catchy, and is guaranteed to take you on a little trip down memory lane, back to those innocent days full of jelly and ice cream and cuddly toys.
Teddy Bear’s Picnic Slot Game Play
Teddy Bears Picnic slot has 5 reels with 3 rows and 25 pay-lines (same as the Pandamania slot– also from NextGen). Your fluffy symbols on the reels include include three cuddly-looking bears – mum, dad and baby bear – plus a big gateau topped with loads of cherries, and a big mug of steaming hot tea. Then there’s the usual playing card symbols 10, J, Q, K and A that make up the lower value symbols – but in this game they are done up to resemble soft stuffed cushions. Is nothing sacred Wombat Fans?
The Wild symbol in the slot is the slab of honeycomb that says “Wild” on it. This symbol substitutes for all others on the reels except the Scatter, which is the ultra kitsch Picnic Basket with pink bows.
There’s also an extra Wild bonus in Teddy Bear’s Picnic slot. During the base game, a large cuddly bear randomly pops up to the left of the screen and throws a handful of honey at the second, third or fourth reels to create creating additional Wilds. Quick, someone give this guy a bear hug!
Honey Free Spins
Land 3x or more of the Picnic Basket Scatters and you’ll set off the Honey Free Spins, meaning 8 extra goes for you. Plus, any Honeycomb Wild symbols that land on the reels during the round will become sticky (ha ha ha, sticky, get it?) and remain stuck in their place until the bonus is over. This means many more chances for winning combos – although there are no multipliers added onto your wins.
Every time a win is awarded, players can either double or quadruple it by clicking on the ‘Gamble button’. All you need to do is predict the correct colour or suit of the next card. But guess it wrong, and it’s ‘Game Over’ for you. Wah wah wah.
Overall not a bad a little slot (in spite of the weird theme and nursery-style graphics). We are big fans of the Bear bonus Wild, which mixes things up in the base game nicely, and the Free Spins round is fairly easy to trigger.
Wombat score: 3/5
