Tianlong
The wombat says: the Tianlong slot is from NextGen Gaming (the makers of the Golden Rooster slot) and is based on the ancient Chinese myth of the flying dragon. This celestial creature is an important figure in Chinese astrology, and is said to bring luck and prosperity if you are born in its year. This wombat was born in the Year of The Rabbit, so is more likely to have a fluffy tail than mega rich. That must be why I’m mad about the slots!
In China, successful people who have achieved loads are often called dragons, and heaps of Chinese proverbs use references to the scaly beasts too, such as: ‘Hoping one’s son grows up to be a dragon.’ Plus, the dragon is also associated with the ancient Emperors of China and used a symbol to represent power. In fact, the founder of Han dynasty, Liu Bang, claimed that he was conceived after his mum dreamt of a dragon… Weird but true.
But back to the game. We all love a Chinese-themed slot (Lucky Cat is our favourite) so let’s see how this nice looking game matches up to the rest of them. It has that calming feel about it -you could also try the Nirvana slot if you enjoy getting into these meditative states! Or if you like dragons, there are a few hanging around in the Koi Princess slot as well.
Ancient temples, cherry blossom, stone paths, and sakura trees make up the background to the reels in this game, and the graphics are all very zen like – in fact we nearly nodded off mid-spin. We love the elaborate white Dragon with his decorative tail, plus the soundtrack to the slot played on traditional Chinese instrument Gu Zheng creates the relaxing atmosphere of an oriental temple. Overall, a clean design in keeping with the ancient Chinese theme.
Tianlong slot is made up of 5 reels, 3 rows and 10 pay lines, which pay both left to right and right to left. Your symbols on the reels are the holy mountain-top temple, the Chinese lantern, the bonsai tree, the jade ornamental plate, some red luck beads and some runes with Chinese chracters on them.
The flying dragon is the Wild and appears on reels 1, 3 and 4 and the magnificent creature will substitute for all other symbols, except for the Scatter. It’s also an expanding Wild and will cover all 3 positions on the reels when it’s a part of a winning combo.
But that’s not all Wombat Fans! You’ll also receive an extra re-spin when 1x or more of the expanded Wilds appear, and the Wild is made sticky too, giving you another chance to make some wins
Your Scatter in Tianlong slot is the famous Phoenix. This mythological creature has many powers including immortality – so land 3x or more of them on reels 2, 3, and 4 and it’s 15 Free Spins for you! Plus, the magic of this eternal bird will add a 2x multiplier to all your wins.
Players can also retrigger the Free Spins and (amazingly enough), the Wild Dragon Re-spin can even be set off during the Phoenix Free Spins round, too! Thanks NextGen, we’re feeling a bit spoilt…
Tianlong is a nice-looking slot and the Wild Re-Spin feature is key to winning big in this game. It’s not our favourite Chinese-themed slot, but definitely worth a spin if you were born in the Year of The Dragon.
This game is no longer available at Wombat Casino. Sorry about that!
