Santa Paws
Santa Paws slot is no longer available at Wombat Casino. Sorry about that! Why not have a spin on Santa King Megaways slot from Inspired Gaming instead?
The Wombat says: OK, so it’s the middle of summer Down Under when we reviewed this one and this Wombat is in a T-shirt and sunnies, but we love a festive slot all year round, so let’s unwrap the Christmas treat that is Santa Paws from Microgaming! That’s unless you want to play the Gift Rap slot. Or Deck the Halls. Or Santa’s Surprise. They have quite a few Christmas slots!
This fun game is a bright and cheerful offering with an animal-related seasonal theme (yes, it’s called Santa Paws), and instead of Father Christmas appearing on the reels handing out the gifts, we are treated to a very cuddly polar bear. I’d have called it Santa Claws personally. It’s got that cute feel like Piggy Fortunes lots of other slots we could mention.
Santa Paws is a 5-reel slot with 3 rows and 20 paylines. Your symbols on the Yuletide reels include an postman/artic fox delivering Xmas cards on a set of skis, some cute festive rabbits decorating a Christmas tree, cuddly seals bearing gifts on their flippers, and instead of Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer, we’re presented with Rudolf the red-nosed killer whale (sporting some novelty antlers). Then there’s also a snowy white owl in a santa hat, and the standard playing cards 10, J, Q, K & A all covered in snow as your low value symbols. It’s a full on cartoon game like the Munchers slot and Santa’s Wild Ride.
Santa Paws himself (he’s the big polar bear) makes up your Wild in this game and will substitute for all other symbols on the reels to give you more chances of wins! Land 5x of the Santa Paws symbols in a row and it’s the jackpot of 4,000-coins for you! Hurrah! Who said Christmas only comes once a year?
Keep your eyes peeled for the Scatter symbol too Wombat Fans, which is represented by the cheeky little Penguins clutching a Christmas presents. These icons will set off the Free Spins bonus.
Land 3x or more of those mischievous penguins anywhere on the reels and you’ll set off the Free Spins Bonus feature. You’ll be dished out 12 spins with a random multiplier (anywhere from x1x to x7) added onto it. During the bonus there will also be another extra Wild icon added to the gameplay – the Rudolph killer whale will substitute for all of the other symbols except the Scatters, too. And there’s one more thing: it’s also possible to re-trigger the bonus by landing more cheeky penguin Scatters!
Feeling extra lucky Wombat Fans? Then click on the hearts and clubs icon below the reels after you’ve scooped a winning spin to double or quadruple your winnings. Simply guess the suit correctly, or colour of the next playing card and you can bank the extra win. But beware – if you guess wrong you’ll lose everything.
A jingle bells soundtrack and a whole load of festive furry animals? What more could you want in a slot? Well… the Free Spins would have been nice for starters. But sadly, Christmas didn’t come to Wombat Towers this year and we didn’t see hide nor hair of the bonus round. Instead we scooped all our wins from the Wild combos, which were frequent but not exactly mega pay outs. A nice slot, but I didn’t get lucky on it. Maybe it wasn’t my day?
