Dazzle Me
Dazzle Me
The wombat says: Hark, is that the sound of a NetEnt jackpot jingling we can hear? Yes! Why, it’s the Dazzle Me slot, the games maker’s latest gem-themed game. And just like most of NetEnt’s offerings it comes with some exciting and unique features.
Asymmetric reels and Linked Reels are just 2 of the surprises in store for you, and along with 76 different pay-lines. In theory you can win up to 152,000 coins-get ready to spin!
Look and Feel
With the reels covered is colourful gemstones, we couldn’t help but think this game looks a bit like NetEnt’s other popular shiny slot, Starburst. There’s also some tinkling electro chill-out music that doesn’t grate too much (I thought I was back in Cafe del Mar in Ibiza for a second). The music starts pumping up when the Free Spins take place.
There’s a few Star Trek doors opening and closing as well by the sound of it, or was I imagining that? Whoosh! Pick your coin value and your bet level and off you go!
Game Play
Meet your symbols, a colourful bunch of green, purple, blue and red gemstones along with golden bells and classic fruity ‘7’ symbol. You’ll also see that the flashy reels aren’t your standard. Although there are 5 reels in the Dazzle Me slot, they are set out asymmetrically. Instead of the usual 5×3 screen, the reels here come in different heights: x3 symbols on the first 2 reels, x4 symbols on the next 2 reels and x5 symbols on the last reel. This means the game can pack in a whopping 76 pay-lines, which puts a smile on our faces. The pay-lines are fixed, you just set the coin level and bet level (from 1 to 10), 20 coins per level.
Sapphires and emeralds are the lowest value symbols paying out 20 coins for 5 in a row, whilst red rubies and the purple stones will scoop you 30 coins. The slot’s traditional fruit machine symbols; the Bell and the 7 are the ones to watch out for, and will pay out 100 or 200 coins each for each bet level. So if you are on level 10, betting £/$/€ 1 coins, that’s a £/$/€ 2000 pay out if you land 5 7’s on a pay-line
Bonus Features
Well, there’s 3 of these exciting extras.
Dazzling Wilds, Dazzling Free Spins and Linked Reels — and this wombat will go through them each in turn.
Dazzling Wilds
Keep your eyes peeled as randomly at any point during your spins, entire reels can land with Wild Diamond symbols. These priceless sparklers substitute for any other symbol to complete your winning payline combos.
Dazzling Free Spins
Get 3x or more Free Spin logo Scatters anywhere on the reels and it’s up to 16 Free Spins for you Wombat fans! 3x Scatter symbols gets you 8 more goes, 4x Scatters will give you 12, while 5x these little beauties earns you the full 16 Free Spins.
Linked Reels
These Bobby Dazzlers are triggered during your Free Spins round and can be a nice little earner. Before your spin, two adjacent reels will become linked in pairs on reels 1 and 2 or on reels 3 and 4. They’ll also land identical symbols and spin together at the same time – giving you two symbols lined up on a pay-line with every turn. Why hello, it looks like you’re doubling our chances of winning! Thanks very much Dazzle Me slot.
It’s a Gem
So what are all those gemstones? It looks like Breakfast at Tiffany’s in there! The Dazzling Wilds are diamonds of course- that’s easy. Then you’ve got your red rubies, your blue sapphires (the second hardest substance on earth after diamonds, did you know that?) and your green emeralds. But what are the purple stones?
We’d guess they are amethysts, the violet quartz we often wrap up for Mrs Wombat at Christmas when we’re feeling a bit short. A useful stone is Amethyst- I bet you didn’t know that the name comes from the ancient Greek word “méthystos” which means “plastered”. As in, “he’s three sheets to the wind”, “she’s banjaxed”, “they’ve been hanging out with Dionysus”.
This is down to the fact that the ancient Greeks believed that an amethyst will protect you from the effects of the grog- handy to know if you’re a one pot screamer.
I always carry a couple in my pocket.
Mobile Dazzle Me
This being a relatively simple game (from a graphics point of view anyway), it should come as no surprise that it looks absolutely stunning on a smartphone, a phablet or a tablet. The mobile version of the game is called Dazzle Me Touch.
I love the way the game goes full screen- those NetEnt designers are geniuses. Just swipe down to come out of full screen mode and swipe up to blow the screen size up again. You can play the game in portrait mode or landscape mode. We tend to hold our Wombatphone sideways.
Here’s me scoring a tidy win on my mobile playing Dazzle Me: Get in there! If you are wondering how to work out the pay out, well it was 2 lines of 5 emeralds (200 coins each as I was betting level 10) plus one line of 4 emeralds (50 coins) plus a line of 3 (30 coins) which comes to a grand total of 480 coins. Woo hoo! I’d still have preferred to pull in some Dazzling Wilds though, they can be very lucrative on a lucky day.
Auto Play
There’s also an auto-play option on the Dazzle Me slot where you can set the reels spinning for 10, 25, 50 and even more spins if you want to.
Hit the “Advanced Settings” tab and it will come up even more gizmos, such as Stop on Any Win, Stop if Any Win Exceeds…., Stop if Cash Increase/Decreases by…and so on. Pretty high powered!
Conclusion
Faster than an ostrich in the outback, Dazzle Me’s spins are out of control. And when you trigger the Free Spins round, the game speeds up even further! A fun game that’s easy on the eye, we like the Linked Reels feature best.
Wombat score: 4/5
If you like your traditional symbols, but want a game with all the modern bells and whistles, this should float your boat. It’s diamond!
