Coins of Fortune
Well, I fired the Coins of Fortune slot up and thought I’d woken up in Shanghai. This is a nice looking game that stands out from the crowd, isn’t it?
Look and Feel
This game has a modern Asian city feel about it. Tokyo? Shanghai? Who knows, but what we do know is that this is a great looking game. We see a lot of games that look similar. Nolimit City have done a good job of giving this game a unique feel to it, it’s a very colourful design, right up there with the Electric Avenue slot in fact (even if it’s not based on the 80s).
In the background, the skyscrapers crowd in on the action, and the reels are set in a pagoda frame. They thud to a stop with seem pleasing sound effects that get the pulse racing when you hit a winning combination. When you are close to a win, the reel set makes a kind of buzzing noise. I thought that was my electric shaver going off at one point.
6 coins symbols make up the low payers topped off with 4 slot beasts including a red dragon which is the high payer. Then you have your Phoenix, your Lion and your Turtle.
The Coins of Fortune slot is a 20 pay-line game. You cannot adjust the pay-lines, you just control the total bet amount. So bet 20.00 and you are betting 1.00 per line and so on. In a sense we are getting back to basics with this title after the big combo games like the Santa King Megaways slot (117,649 Ways to Win) and the like. And there’s nothing wrong with that!
This game has a nice little selection of wild features, so if you like this kind of feature, this could be your bowl of noodles.
There a standard wild, a gold coin, which pays up to 25 times your pay-line bet and this also doubles up as a scatter.
There is also a really neat Dragon Wild (with sharper claws then me) that nudges down from spin to spin. This is triggered when you land 3 of the same symbols on one reel.
The Dragon Wild overlays the symbols and makes its way down the screen one nudge at a time for each re-spin- helping you to make up wins hopefully. When it drops off the bottom of the screen, the feature stops.
If you manage to land 3 scatters on the same spin, you will activate the Lucky Respin Round. All the wilds that land here walk left with each respin (it kind of reminds me of the Wild Toro slot from ELK, and that’s no bull).
Once they head off the left-hand side of the reel set, they drop into a meter (watch your parking meters). If you manage to bag 3 wild scatters like this, the multiplier goes up by by 1x. You can scale this all the way to a maximum possible multiplier bonanza of 10x, if you are wearing your lucky pants.
And if the Dragon Nudge sets off, you’ll get 3 wild coins and a guaranteed multiplier boost.
I enjoyed the Coins of Fortune slot, it feels like a breath of fresh air. The extra bonus features are nice.
This is a medium variance game (on the higher side). Lucky dragons can win up to 6,015 times their stake.
Another thumbs up for Nolimit City, they are creating quite a following for themselves.
Wombat Score: 5/5
Top marks for Top Coins my wombat friends. Let’s hope that dragon snuffles out some fortune cookies for you. You just need to feed him for a bit.
Coins of Fortune Slot FAQs
- What's this I hear about a Dragon Wild? How do you trigger this feature?
You will need to land three identical icons on the reels to trigger this feature. You get a series of respins while the Dragon Wild nudges down bit by bit, hopefully making up some wins for you along the way.
- I thought the Golden Coin was the wild?
Yes, there are 2 wilds in this slot game. 3 Golden Coins will set off the Lucky Re-spins feature and tht comes with Moving Wilds (known as Walking Wilds in other gamed we have played, but the idea is the same).
