The Wombat says: Ooohhhh aaarrrr me hearties! It’s a pirate-themed slot! We haven’t seen one of these in quite a while, so right now Wombat Towers is fizzing with excitement at the possibility of all that bounty to be won.
It’s fair to say that life on the ocean waves in the 17th and 18th centuries wasn’t all that pleasant. If you weren’t being fired at by pirates, you were on the verge of getting scurvy, or facing a big old mutiny. We love the drawings on this game- the quality is right up there with the Viking Quest slot– another solid game.
Thankfully Cannonball Bay slot is a much less strenuous way to enjoy sailing the seven seas. Parlay with this pirate as he roams the waves oceans to plunder and pillage all those merchant ships.
Look and Feel
Genesis Gaming are behind the design of this slot and have done a very nice job. The graphics have a distinctive ‘ye olde world theme’ with faded maps and charts as the background to the reels. Two frigate ships watch over the top of the reels, while your control panel is done up like a captain’s log in handwritten calligraphy style.
The symbols on the reels are more cartoony like the Reel Strike slot machine from Microgaming, and the 3D style animations come alive when you pull off a big win. Speaking of animations, when you trigger the Free Spins round the pirate goes bananas. His hat flies off (to reveal a shiny bald head) before moving to the middle of the reels to fire off his canon and gyrate his hips like Nicki Minaj – it’s a sight to behold. The slot is also accompanied by an epic-sounding score that adds to the sailing theme.
Cannonball bay slot has 5 reels, 3 rows and 25 paylines. Your symbols on the reels are all pirate-related and include a ship’s anchor, the captain’s wheel, barrels of gunpowder emblazoned with the skull and crossbones and a locked treasure chest with more loot than you’ll see in the Break da Bank Again slot– it’s most likely full of gold. The lower value symbols on the reels are made up of the 9, 10, J, Q, K & A playing cards as is standard in a Microgaming powered slot.
You’ll also find the cannon on the reels. This is your Wild in the slot and will substitute for all other symbols to add to your winning combos. The canon also comes alive during the bonus, when it will firing shots at the reels and exploding other symbols into Wilds. Speaking of the bonus, the Pirate chap is the Scatter in Cannonball Bay slot and will set off the Free Spins feature.
Land 3x or more of the gent with the moustache anywhere on the reels and you’ll scoop 5 free spins. Ok, this sounds a bit stingy… BUT with every spin cannonballs are bombarded at the reels, and once exploded turn random symbols into Wilds – which means some big wins! The Free Spins Bonus can also be re-triggered by landing another 3x Scatters on the reel…
We love this slot! A fun theme with a lucrative bonus and inventive use of the Exploding Wilds. The graphics are awesome too, which makes the overall game-playing experience an enjoyable one. Get hunting for treasure!
