Look and Feel
This is a game set in a fantasy realm with graphics that are darn good and reminiscent of retro fantasy gaming of the past, which gets a big tick from me.
Your game is set against different battle settings, depending on which of the six different islands you are fighting on, but all are satisfyingly different and fun. We’ve played a few games with battles in them like Inspired Gaming’s Centurion Free Spins slot machine, but none like this.
There’s galloping adventure music to make you steel your nerves for the battle and adventure ahead. It’s dramatic stuff, just the ticket to knock the dust off of this Wombat’s battle gear and get me ready for the glory and spoils of warfare.
Battle Mania Slot GamePlay
There are no reels in this game: your five heroes are lined up opposite a selection of monsters, ready to take them on. Each monster has five bars of health that you must reduce to win. This is no fruit machine like the Bar X Hot Spins slot!
This is a game where you can customise your play. You can choose where to fight, and who is on your team.
You can opt to play on a forest island, in the swamp, desert, volcano or most rewardingly a treasure island. Some islands require you to have played a certain number of games before you can access them and their rewards.
The Trolls and the Heroes
The baddies of the game are a shady-looking bunch of trolls who face our team down and who we are trying to beat.
Your five heroes are a team of your choice and may answer to Island Guardians, Heroes of Light, Champions of Balance, Dark Fury or Heavy Fighters. Your fighters are all turned out in true game card characters and will be lined up at the bottom of the battlefield. Pick a team in green, blue or red giving you low, medium or high volatility respectively.
You hit Play and some random cards that either boost or weaken your individual hero’s attack are dealt. One by one your heroes fight and either win or lose. A skull card will result in an enemy attack and win but on the plus side, there are several different diamonds that will give your enemies a battering.
The Bonuses
You can trigger the Battle Mania slot’s bonus games by landing a battle card for one of the five different bonus games on offer. The same format for beating or winning the foe applies: use the cards to either beat the foe or see your team destroyed.
If you’re dealt the Forest Island card you enter the Boss Fight. Now your fighters will face a dragon which you must beat or it’ll take out the team.
The Swamp Island card will trigger the Villain’s Wave. In this mode, you’re gifted a magical weapon: a crossbow to help your team win. This weapon has fifteen arrows for you to use over five waves. But beware, progress through the feature will become more difficult. Luckily you will gain multipliers of up to x10 to sweeten things, so get firing and let’s hope you are a master archer.
If you land a Volcano Island card you will enter the Lava Stone Pick. You must pick as many lava stones as possible (ouch, ouch, hot potato) within a set time to gain a multiplier stone. Then any subsequent prizes you bag have the multiplier applied to them. A creative and rewarding feature with up to 17,000 coins for those favoured by Lady Luck.
The Desert Island card will enter you into up to five Free battles, with each of these wins doubled in value. There are an additional 1,000 coins on offer for the fella or lass who gets awarded a special treasure card.
If you get the much-desired Treasure Island card you will gain a mighty rewarding 25% extra to all your winnings in this mode.
This game is something of a rare fruit. You will have to have played twelve games before you can even enter this special land and access to it is only unlocked for a limited period each day. The good news is there’s a flipping massive 100,000 coin prize up for your paws to grab.

The Battle Mania slot is a majestic piece of storytelling from Skillzzgaming and Games Global. There’s plenty of the usual slot play elsewhere but this game is something different altogether- with its cast of characters and places where you must fight to gain the fruits of battle.
