Around the World
The wombat says: It’s a big thumbs up to Ash Gaming who’ve churned out this cracking little game, the Around the World slot! Based on the fictional journey of Phileas Fogg this smart game sees you follow the intrepid traveler as he attempts to circumnavigate the globe in just 80 days.
What? You’ve never heard of the classic Jules Verne novel, ‘Around the World in 80 Days?’ OK, so it tells the tale of a Victorian Englishman (Phileas Fogg), who had nothing better to do with his time than make daft wagers with his mates in a Gentlemans’ Club (Hang on, where can we sign up?)
The bet in question was to travel round the world in 80 days. Phileas readily accepts, and promptly sets off with his man servant Passepartout by foot, train and hot-air balloon on an epic journey through 4 continents!
It’s another exotic theme like the Pyramid Quest slot. This particular game is inspired by Fogg’s madcap journey – so pack your cases, we’re off on jaunt Wombat Fans!
Look and Feel
The graphics in this slot are awesome and resemble hand-drawn illustrations straight out of the original novel by the looks of it. In fact, the whole game has a Victorian vibe feel to it! Check out the elaborate frames around each symbol, and the old-fashioned fonts splashed across the reels. But best of all are the background graphics; The Houses of Parliament, The Eiffel Tower, The Sphinx, The Statue of Liberty, The Taj Mahal and The Great Wall of China.
Around the World Slot Game Play
Around The World is a standard 5-reel, 20-payline slot distributed by Microgaming- the people behind the Racing for Pinks slot (an entirely different game) and the Rhyming Reels Jack and Jill slot (again, couldn’t be more different). Your symbols are all world-travel related and include a camel, an elephant, a junk ship, a locomotive train, an ocean liner, a hot-air balloon and a biplane. Plus, Phileas Fogg himself who looks like he’s a really spiffing fellow.
Then there’s the ‘Around The World’ Wild symbol, a Phileas Fogg Wild, the Gold Compass Scatter and a Globe Bonus symbol. The Phileas Fogg Wild is the most valuable symbol on your reels, and landing 5 of them will scoop you 10,000x, as well as substituting for all other symbols. By Jove!
Globe Bonus
Land 3x, 4x or 5x of the Globe Scatters anywhere on the reels and you’ll trigger off the Globe Bonus. But there’s a twist! You don’t actually have to play the bonus at all. Nope. The game allows you to collect all your winnings, or just take half of your jackpot and play the bonus game with the other half. Thanks Mr Fogg, you’re a stand up guy!
Pick 1 of 4 routes to get ‘Around the world in 80 Days’ (the further you get, the more money you make) and bag wins along your way. Depending on the route you choose, you’ll scoop extra cash wins, more multipliers or a shipwreck which ends your bonus game.
After each route ends, you’ll also have the chance to keep gambling around the globe by picking another route.
Compass Scatter Feature
Here comes the multiplying mayhem… With 3x or more of the Compass Scatter symbols on an winning pay-line, the Compass Bonus is set off. Here, the needles on the compasses spin like a bunch of Tazzie Devils and point in various directions.
Those that point North when they’ve finished spinning will get you a 2x multiplier added to your win. So, if all 5 compasses point North, you’ll scoop a whopping multiplier of 32x.
Reverse Play
If the usual bets aren’t your cup of Royal Darjeeling, then Around The World slot has an awesome feature that this wombat hasn’t seen before, it’s called Reverse Play. Turn ‘Reverse Play’ on, and even if you don’t land any winning combos or Scatters, you’ll still scoop a bit of cash.
Conclusion:
There’s no doubt that Around the World is a great slot with plenty of work gone into it – the graphics look great while the features are unique and very playable.
This game does a sterling job of transporting you back into the great Victorian Age, and we could happily while away some time visiting the Pyramids with Phileas Fogg… Grab your passport, and your Passepartout and get spinning!
