aloha slotThe Wombat says: the Aloha slot  – the game that always reminds me of that memorable trip I took to Hawaii. The surfing, the grass skirts, the garlands, the coconuts! And the hula girls of course…

Sadly Mrs Wombat wasn’t in attendance on that trip, her arthritis was playing up which meant this Wombat spent a whole week on his own. Happy days.

Aloha Slot Stats

Aloha slot is a six-row and five-reel Hawaiian-themed game. It is the original Cluster Pays slot from NetEnt launched in March 2016. This is a low volatility, colourful slot and the main features are Cluster Pays, Free Spins, Re-spins, and Wilds

It’s a bright and cheerful game, and is one of those feel-good slots like our Gorilla Go Wild slot game! Or there’s Lightning Box Games’  Dolphin Gold slot which should also put a smile on your face.

Anyway, let’s see what sun-drenched spins are on offer – look out for the volcano erupting whenever you get a winning combo. It’s awesome!

Look and Feel

Whenever I fire up the Aloha! Cluster Pays slot from NetEnt, it always puts me in a good mood as I´m transported right back to that tropical Tiki island.

The graphics are brightly coloured and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. They are high quality, and if you look to the right of the reels you’ll see a Tiki statue come to life as you play – a nice touch.

The backdrop to the reels is a beautiful sandy beach, complete with swaying palm trees and an active volcano. The heat is on!

How to Play Aloha!

There’s only one way to play the Aloha slot, and that’s by putting on your loudest Hawaiian shirt, or your scratchiest grass skirt, mixing yourself a large coconut based Mocktail like a Virgin Pina Colada (we always stay off the booze when we’re playing) and firing it up!

Oh, how do you technically play the game? We cover that too below…..

Aloha! Cluster Pays Slot Game Play

aloha slot cluster pays coconut symbolThe Aloha! Cluster Pays slot is an interesting one, as it has an unusual configuration of six reels with five symbols on each reel (although you get large and small symbols- but we’ll explain that in more detail below).

Your symbols on the reels include seven icons: the red, blue and green Tiki masks, a juicy pineapple, half a tasty tropical coconut, a pale green oyster shell and a beautiful pink orchid. There’s your Pina Colada.

Cluster Pays

The big daddy pay-outs in the Aloha slot are from the Cluster Pay game mechanic. There are no pay-lines in the slot, instead, you get your wins by landing groups of symbols together. This was first launched in this game and this mechanic has been copied many times since.

When the same symbols land next to each other horizontally or vertically they will form clusters of nine symbols or more, and if you’re lucky these clusters could pay out some coinage!

You’ll also find that there are stacked symbols in play, which will count as 2x symbols too, and this should help you to stack up some wins.

Substitution symbol

aloha slot cluster pays flower symbolKeep your eyes peeled for the big white question mark icon on the wooden box, which is known as the Substitution Symbol in Wombat circles.

This cool icon will turn into the symbol with the highest value that has landed directly next to it (to give you the biggest pay-out possible).

OK, they’re just Wilds, but “Substitution Symbols” sounds so much better, don’t you think? The Wilds will substitute for all symbols except the Scatter.

Thank you very much and “Aloha” to you, too. Aloha means affection, peace, compassion and mercy to our Hawaiian friends by the way.

Sticky Win Re-Spins

aloha slotIf you build up a Cluster Win, you will randomly activate a Sticky Re-Win. Sounds delicious, does it not?

Well, it’s got nothing to do with cakes and everything to do with symbols being anchored to the spot for another spin!

In a Sticky Re-Spin, the cluster will hold and everything else spins again. And if your cluster gets bigger, those new symbols will stick and the remaining symbols spin again. This can be a lot of fun and can be good for your balance!

Aloha Free Spins Bonus

You’ll also find Hawaiian-Style Free Spins on offer in the Aloha slot. If you manage to land three or more of the Free Spins stamp Scatter (as either whole symbols or bits of ones) then you will be given from six to twelve free spins. Yup, we told you those Hawaiians were generous…

Three Scatters will give you nine Free Spins, Four will give you ten Free Spins, Five will give you eleven Free Spins and Six of the Scatter icons will reward you with Twelve Free Spins.

You can re-trigger the Free Spins once you are in the bonus round, that’s one of our favourite features in a slot game by the way.

aloha slot free spins symbolYou’ll also discover the Symbol Drop feature in play during the Free Spins Bonus. Here the low-value symbols are removed, and replaced by high-paying ones instead. This means you have a better chance of bagging a big win on your remaining Free Spins.

And there’s one last piece of good news! If you don’t win anything on your very last spin, you will get an extra go until you do win something.

Stacked Symbols

In the Sticky Win Re-Spin, many of the symbols land stacked, or rather they can appear as large and small symbols. The large ones are two small ones stacked on top of each other.

Play Aloha Slot on Mobile

So as you’d expect, the Aloha slot plays like a dream on a phone and tablet, as well as on your desktop device. This is just as well, because there’s nothing this Wombat loves more than playing slots in my hammock!

Conclusion

The Cluster Pays are a cracking feature, and if you are lucky, give you a few wins, especially if you manage to crack the Free Spins feature.

A word of advice: If it’s a bit grey outside, fire up the Aloha slot and grab some of that Hawaiian sunshine! Hopefully, you’ll land a few of those Cluster Pays!
