The Wombat says: ever fancied taking to the open road and following the infamous Route 66 from one side of America to the other?

Well now’s your chance in this fuel-filled slot from Games Global (formerly Microgaming)! If you want ancient culture we suggest you fire up the Legacy of Egpyt slot from Play’n GO, because the 5 Reel Drive slot is pure Americana.

Also known as the Will Rogers Highway, the Main Street of America or the Mother Road, Route 66 was one of the first-ever highway built in the U.S. back in 1926. This ultimate road trip starts in Chicago, Illinois and ends up at the Pacific in Santa Monica, crossing Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California – and it’s next on this Wombat’s travel bucket list.

But enough about me, let’s take a look at this slot from those cartoon gaming kings Games Global (the makers of the Cash of Kingdoms slot), and see if we can’t scoop some fast and furious wins…

5 Reel Drive Slot Gameplay

5 Reel Drive is a five-reel slot (funnily enough) with three rows and just nine pay-lines – but as a more traditional  Games Global release, what did you expect?

This game is old school like the Snake Charmer slot and Tomb Raider! Wins pay out left to right  (except for scatter symbols of course) and one of the icons in your winning combo must land on the leftmost reel. Your symbols must also be next to each other on the pay-line.

The symbols are all related to the theme of Americana, and these include a delicious-looking cheeseburger, a New York yellow taxi, a doughnut and a coffee together, a Coca-Cola, a pair of fluffy dice, a red truck complete with Tricker who is puffing on a cigar, a tasty piece of blueberry pie (yummy, this wombat’s favourite), a portion of chips, a pink Cadillac with either Thelma or Louise in a headscarf, and a burning tyre icon.

The windy road symbol is your wild symbol in this game and will do the usual job of substituting for all other symbols on the reels except for the scatter symbol. FYI Wombat Fans, there is no multiplier attached to the Wild as you will often find in these older Microgaming slots.

The Scatter symbol in 5 Reel Drive is the Police car. Ordinarily, this Wombat would advise avoiding the cops, but here it’s a different story.

This Police Car icon can appear in any position on the reels to form a winning combination, and landing three or more of these scatter symbols will add to your total pay out.

Free Spins and Bonuses

5 reel drive fries symbolBad news guys and girls, there are no Free Spins or Bonus Features on offer in the 5 Reel Drive slot.

But the game does feature a Jackpot. Land five of the flaming wheel icons and you could scoop yourself a hefty 10,000 coins if you are playing with the bet level cranked up to the maximum.

5 Reel Drive slot on Mobile

Well done Games Global! Despite being an older game, this slot is in HTML5, so the mobile version looks and plays almost the same on your iPhone, iPad and Android devices as it does on your desktop. Which makes it perfect if you fancy a spin on the bus!

Conclusion

If Free Spins and extra features aren’t your thing, then the 5 Reel Drive slot is right up your street. A simple slot with no fancy gizmos, you could do worse than this vintage Games Global release.

Wombat Score: 3.2/5

Things are looking good on Route 66.
