Well it’s an eye popper that’s for sure. In fact, there are more bright colours on show here than you’ll find in Nana Wombat’s knicker drawer. And although we were expecting a Phantom Of the Opera macabre theme, the slot is actually set in a mystical forest (there’s been quite a lot of those recently).
Theatre of Night slot really does look great (they’ve moved a long way from the likes of the Emperor’s Garden slot), with its misty woodland scene full of trees, the midnight moon, woodland flowers and magical toadstools forming the backdrop to the reels. Theatre of Night slot has 5 reels, 3 rows and 10 paylines, and it will pay out from both left to right and right to left – which means there’s more like 20 lines for you to land your wins on! The symbols on the reels include: colourful butterflies, pink flowers, shimmering fireflies and white hummingbirds. Wild Symbols and Firefly Re-spins
The Wild in this game is the ornate framed ‘Wild’ logo, and will land only on reels 2, 3 and 4 during the base game. It will do the usual job of making up your winning combos by substituting for other symbols, but it will also act as the Scatter. If you manage to find 3x Wilds across those middle reels on the same spin, you’ll set off the Firefly Re-Spins feature – where the business really happens.
Here you’ll be awarded 6 respins. Ok, it sounds a bit on the mean side, BUT, during the feature the whole of the centre reel becomes Wild and the generous Fireflies will add extra Wilds on reels 2 and 4, too. Plus, the Wild symbols can land on any of all reels during the re-spins not just the middle 3 like in the base game – helping you make very lucrative combos.
Conclusion
Nice dream-like graphics NextGen. This wombat was expecting Gandalf and Frodo to come bounding round the corner chased by the Nazgul at any moment. Yes, we can’t fault the quality of the design in Theatre of The Night slot, but we would have liked a few more features and bonuses. This isn’t the most exciting slot NextGen have given us, but the fantasy theme makes it well worth a spin. Don your wizard’s cloak and enter the forest.
