In this weird and wonderful game, the aim is to ‘poke’ the giant guy sporting a yellow jumpsuit who is running amok on an unnamed city’s streets.
Quite what went on at Microgaming HQ when they decided to come up with this madcap release, this wombat has no idea, but still, it’s nice to see them doing something a bit different for a change. There are only so many Egyptian themed slots this wombat can handle…Or Irish ones for that matter (step up to the plate- the Rainbrew slot and Leprechaun’s Luck). Actually, ignore that, those 2 are great games.
Look and Feel
Sharp, crisp and a lot of fun pretty much sums up the animated graphics in Poke The Guy slot.
The backdrop is set in a colourful cartoon city with various landmarks that could be the Seven Wonders of the World; you’ll find the Eiffel Tower, the Pyramids, the Sphinx, Mount Rushmore and what looks like the Statue of Liberty. There are also lots of buildings, parks, fountains, trees, a lake, oh and a Ferris wheel.. Standard city stuff.
The Guy himself is our favourite though… Half monkey/half Barry White lookalike he sports a big beard and moves quickly around the city in different strange poses. We did tell you that this is one of the weirdest slot games that you are likely to see this side of Weirdville!
Poke the Guy Game Play
As we’ve established, this really isn’t your standard slot, and as such it doesn’t have either reels or paylines to create winning combinations. Instead you need to choose from a selection of completely random objects to throw at the massive yellow bloke, they include: rubber ducks, fish, fruit, ice-cream, some foliage and a knife. Every throw equals a bet, or a spin if you like.
If your throw is successful and you lamp the Guy in the face (or even private parts), a random payout will be awarded to you with a multiplier of either 2x, 4x, 8x, 12x, 18x, or if you are very lucky the top prize of 500x. And that’s basically it.
You can also raise the stake using the Total Bet feature and bets start at £0.01 and go up to £30 per throw.
Free Spins and Bonuses
There are no bonus games or special features in Poke The Guy slot. Or even Wilds or Scatter symbols. In fact nothing at all that would resemble an online slot. Just a giant guy in a yellow onesie with a big beard causing havoc in a town. It’s madder than a bunch of angry wasps…
Conclusion
There’s only one word we can think of to describe this game and that’s ‘bonkers’. Fans of traditional slots will probably want to give this a miss as catapulting piranhas from an electrified fork to get wins might not float your boat. But here at Wombat Towers we think it’s a bold move from Microgaming and we laughed A LOT during our game play.
