What on Earth
The wombat says: Microgaming’s What on Earth slot is a game for those who, just like this wombat, enjoy their slots a bit more on the simple side. And it’s also very aptly named, because quite frankly, it’ll be the first thing you will utter as you fire up this bonkers alien invasion-themed slot. If you want a standard game, head for something like Deuces Wild Poker where you’ll just see packs of cards. If it’s weird aliens you want, read on!
Will we manage to beat those little green men at their own game?
Hang on, I’ll set my gun to stun and get stuck in!
This game looks very nice, it’s brighter than the Bonanza slot from Big Time Gaming, and that’s going some!
The background to the reels is the night sky but the reels are jam-packed full of of neon fruit gone-space age and intergalactic debris.
It’s a confusion of brightly-coloured silliness. The soundtrack is pretty basic with some Martian bleeps and electrical surges but it isn’t annoying and suits the pared-down look of the game.
Overall we liked the fun design.
What on Earth is a 5 reel slot, with 3 rows and 9 pay-lines slot, and it also boasts 3 bonuses, so it’s more than just bright lights and a bunch of mental martians. The only thing is – it’s not available on mobiles which is a shame. Head to games like the Tiger’s Eye slot if you like playing on the move.
Your high value icons on the reels are made up of; an alien face peeking through a spaceship window, a rocket steering control, some green space rock, and then the lower value icons are all a funny spin on the old fruit machine symbols – a melon planet, a plum planet, a fiery orange fruit planet and an intergalactic cherry!
The game’s Wild is the What on Earth logo and substitutes for all symbols except for the Scatters. Intriguingly there are 3 different Scatters; they are a red space rocket, a green flying saucer and a blue rocket.
If you can get 3x flying saucers Scatters or 3x rocket Scatters to line up on adjacent reels, then you’ll enter the alternative reality of the Beam ‘em up Bonus. You can also enter this bonus mode if you can lure 3x or more of the red rocket Scatters onto adjacent reels too!
Now you have the fun of picking from 1 of 5 funny-lookin’ Martians who, in turn, will beam up earthlings or objects each with a different value. Once your alien has beamed up all the people or items you are awarded a prize and a bonus multiplier.
You might get lucky enough to see the Contest icon turn up randomly on the reels. If it does, this means you join the Beam up Contest and your Martian of choice will try to beam up more earthlings than its pals- there are cash prizes for the most successful alien.
If you can land the globe icon on the reels then you shift into a new spot and search for 1 of 4 special earthlings who represent a location, for example the Statute of Liberty for New York. These special characters are worth big bucks if you can get them, so keep your eyes peeled.
Journey into the cosmos Wombat Fans, as these aliens are a friendly bunch and more than happy to dish out some intergalactic coinage for you. A fun game with some great comic touches, this one comes highly recommended.
This game is no longer available at Wombat Casino. Sorry about that chaps!
