Redroo
This game is no longer available at Wombat Casino. Sorry about that chaps! Why not have a spin on Lightning Box Games Jackeroo Jack slot?
The wombat says: Yes! Yes! Yes! Time to dig out that classic Men at Work tune, crank it up, play loud & play it proud. “Do you come from a land down under? Where women glow and men plunder! Can you hear, can you hear the thunder?”
‘Why all this excitement?’ I hear you ask Wombat Fans. Because finally a games maker has decided to use the best country on the entire planet as backdrop for its latest slot. Obviously, the country in question is none other than Oz, Down Under, Australia or simply the country of the very sexiest creatures. That would be me of course. The wombat…
In terms of design, Redroo celebrates all things Australian – the main game is set in the outback, the symbols on the reels include the ubiquitous A, K, Q, J, 10 & 9 symbols, Redroo (the big kangaroo bloke who looks meaner than the fella on the Raging Rhino slot), a pair of cockatoos, a surfer dude, a bikini babe and an Australian shepherd dog. So basically, all things quintessentially Australian.
But maybe not quite. Isn’t something missing there? Here’s a little hint: six letters, starts with a “W”, loves to dig holes and is generally the smartest creature under the Uluru sun. But enough about me. Overall this game looks great some nice 3D graphics (up there with the Jurassic World slot machine in our opinion), and best of all we love the seagulls who say ‘mate mate mate’.
Redroo is a 5 reel slot, with an unusual 4 rows and a mind boggling ‘1024 ways to win’. This means that you don’t have to worry about selecting the number of pay lines and boring such like. We are quite partial to this format as all you need to do is placing a single bet on the entire set of reels and off you go. And let’s face it, games with that many pay lines are bound to be loaded with a massive win potential.
Redroo slot is a bit on the volatile side, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It just means that it can take some time to win something, we had 20 spins can without winning a sausage but when you do land a win, then you’ll win big big big!
Yes, that ‘Roo looks like he’s got a mean right hook (not like those animals on Toki Time), but he can be pretty generous. The real action in Redroo begins and ends with the Free Spins rounds. Land 3x or more of the Australia map Scatter symbol anywhere on the reels. The more Scatters you’ll land, the more Free Spins you’ll be rewarded with (the maximum is 20). And best of all symbols, the Bonus Round is announced by booming claps of thunder (“Can’t you hear, can’t you hear the thunder?) and the game switches to a second screen from my old stomping ground the Outback to the beach.
But it doesn’t end here! There are multipliers too, and for those you’ll need to bag a Wild Rock symbol which will appear only on the 3 reels in the middle. One Wild gives you a multiplier of x3, two make x9 and if you are lucky and manage to get 3x Wild symbols, all your winnings will be multiplied by a jaw-dropping x27!
OK, so I’m still a little miffed that (once again) it’s all about the ruddy kangaroos and hardly anybody spares a thought us wombats. And, we do find the overall design could have done with more gizmos, but we are big fans of the lucrative bonus features and let’s face it, a game that is all about Straya can do no wrong in our book.
