Red Card
I once got a red card playing Aussie Rules for TumbaRumba in New South Wales when I was a strapping young wombat. My crime? I swore at the ref twice during the match, got 2 yellows than he brandished his red. “Off!”, he shouted.
They love the power those boys, although I did call him a Blind, Hairless Ape and I few other things I won’t mention.
Anyway, back to this game from Gamevy, which is called Red Card (previously known as Boss the Ball) and follows similar lines, except we are talking round ball footie not egg shaped ball footie here, or as our American cousins call it: Soccer. You know, that game with the bit of leather the animals kick around in Soccer Safari– the zebra has the red card in that game).
The whole point of this game is too avoid the red cards (sounds sensible). It’s a lottery style game with 49 footballs spread out over a green and lush looking pitch. If you click or tap on a ball, you will reveal either a trophy (good!) or a red card (not good!). There are 6 red cards too avoid and 43 trophies to pick. Sounds OK, right?
You start by selecting your bet level and then the game starts. This is no traditional fruity like the Dino Might slot – start picking! If you can uncover 6 trophies, you double your money. At that point, you can either collect the winnings, or you can continue and try and keep on avoiding those red cards for higher and higher winnings- all the way to a potential jackpot of €/$/£ 50,000.
This is where the mental strength comes in (you’ll need a few of those Jedi Mind Tricks). You need to make a call when to stop and collect the cash, as the less balls remain, the higher your odds of picking a red card. Don’t be greedy! Try and get the balance right (unless you are really going for the jackpot). A single Red Card will send you packing for the dressing room without a dime!
This game can have you on the edge of your seat, as you can imagine. It’s kind of like a Deal or No Deal for football fanatics.
To speed thing up a bit, you can swipe multiple balls at once, or if you prefer the tension, just pick one at a time and see how you get on. The ball spins around before revealing itself. I found I started on picking single balls and then moved to picking out groups. Then I just mixed it up as I went along. It’s a shame that it’s not called Yellow Card- then at least you’d get one chance to make a mistake.
Red Card is a game based on chance – the red cards are distributed randomly on every game- the result is not pre-determined. This is about as far away as you are going to get from a traditional game like the Wild Birthday Blast slot machine – but we loved it.
I enjoyed this game. OK, it’s not exactly rocket science, but from time to time a like a simple game. It’s kind of like playing a scratchcard with more choices.
And if you think getting 6 red cards in a game is bad, spare a thought for the Argentinian referee who hard to dole out 36 red cards in a single game. He sent off all the players, substitutes and coaches in a 5th tier game of football between rival teams Claypole and Victoriano Arenas.
A mass brawl started on the pitch. Sounds like they were playing Aussie Rules……
This game is no longer available at Wombat Casino. Sorry about that!
