Crazy 80s
The wombat says: Are you ready to go Back To The Future? Microgaming have gone all-out authentic with the neon graphics and tasteless paraphernalia in Eighties-themed slot game, Crazy 80s.
Compare this to a newer neon lights slot like the Rift slot, and you’ll appreciate how slots games have come on! But we like a retro game! Try the Starburst slot, by the way, if you like a colourful game- that’s one of our faves.
But back to the 1980s, when this wombat was an actor. Yeah, I had a few bit parts in some quite big movies – including Crocodile Dundee. Remember that handsome marsupial with the Kevin Keegan perm about an hour or so in? That was me… Anyway it all went downhill when I got involved with a certain female Aussie soap star-turned-pop singer. “I should be so lucky, lucky, lucky , lucky” was my favourite song in the shower, I seem to remember.
Put it this way, stuff really hit the fan when the tabloids got wind of it. Me and Jason haven’t spoken since…
So, back to the game. With an 80s pop-synth soundtrack, you could close your eyes and be forgiven for thinking it’s 1985 and you’re in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (I was in that, too, by the way). But you’re not. This is 2016, and we had to turn the sound off after 10 minutes of spinning the reels, it was bringing back far too too many memories. This is more classic reel spinning than, say the Rugby Star slot which came out later, but hey- it’s meant to be retro!
The slot itself had 5 reels with only 9 paylines. Yes, it seems a bit old fashioned but this is one of Microgaming’s classic slots – it’s an oldie but a goodie. Plus, some of these lines overlap which allow you to win multiple times from the same combination – check out the Paytable for the full deets Wombat fans.
The 10, J, Q, K and A are your standard low-paying card symbols. These are joined on the lime green, bright pink and electric blue reels by essential 80s items like; chunky plastic jewellery, a Rubik’s cube, an audio cassette tape, some Top Gun style aviator sunglasses, leg warmers and a wide belt and mini skirt combination. These symbols will get you anything from 200 to 650 coins for 5 of a kind, but the largest payout comes from the 80s chick who’s stolen Madonna’s haircut from Desperately Seeking Susan. She’ll scoop you 5000 big ones if you manage to land 5 of her on the reels.
The ghetto blaster is the Wild symbol in Crazy 80s (they weighed a ton back in the day), and will replace any other icons on your screen, except the Scatter, to form winning combinations. Meanwhile, the Scatter symbol is the Flashdance LP, which will multiply your winnings. Get three or more of these long-playing records on the reels, and you’ll start multiplying like a bunch of crazy Gremlins (no that’s one movie I wasn’t in, thank you very much).
3 Scatters are multiplied by 2, if you land 4, it’s multiplied by 10 and if manage to see 5 scatters along the reels, you multiply your win by a whopping 50. And the best thing? The Scatters can appear anywhere on the screen, too…
If you grew up in the eighties, then this nostalgic game will float your boat! For the rest of you, the Crazy 80s slot could feel a bit slow compared to Microgaming’s newer offerings as it’s lacking in Free Spins or Bonus Features.
This game is no longer available at Wombat Casino. Sorry about that chaps!
