Look and Feel
Now, I know as well as the next wombat that Rio’s carnival is something of a spectacular occasion. Isn’t this the time when the streets are full of pneumatic dancing and the intoxicating rhythms of samba music? So I admit that I was pretty disappointed by the dull and slightly colourless graphics that Eyecon have created for this celebration of all things Brazilian. And the sound effects that provide the background to your game play are also very basic.
To make up for this shortcoming, there is a quick piece of samba style drumming which you hear when you land the Scatter, but there could surely be a bit more of the fun stuff!
Game Play
Cup Carnaval is a 3 row, 5 reels and 25 pay-line game for fans of samba and football. That’s a full 16 lines more than the Zombie Hoard slot! Just saying.
So while this game is a bit of a let down on looks and feel it does come up far better on game-play. Phew!
To make a line win you will want to lure the high scoring symbols into place. The most valuable icons are party rocket (land five on an active pay-line and get a 3,000 coin gift.) Next up there are a pair of party horns, a football foot in motion and a pair of hands catching a football.
The lower value icons are the Ace through 9 of the card deck in coloured letters.
The game’s Wild is football in the national team’s yellow and green strip colours but this icon only crops up on reels 1, 3 and 5. The Wild substitutes for all icons except the Scatter but it also reward you with a triple multiplier if the Wild is part of a winning combination.
The Scatter is one of the more notable icons as it can be animated and is a sultry samba dancer done up in a traditional feather costume.

If the gods of football are smiling on you then you’ll manage to land 3, 4 or even 5 of that samba Scatter, generating 15, 20 or 25 free spins respectively. Landing a trio of further Scatters during the game will earn you yet more free spins. Conclusion
Cup Carnaval is a let-down for me in the looks department but this one slight failing is more than made up for in its game-play.
Eyecon’s Brazilian escapade looks a lot better when you add 400 free spins in the mix as well as expanding Wilds and that triple multiplier. This slot is a higher variance game for those of you who like a stat or two.
